This bent wood technique is one of the finest example of Japanese traditional woodcrafts from 400 years ago and this company was established in 1874 and the family runs the business till today. These Japanese (Akita) cedar is about 250 years old, that is why the grain is so narrow.

They are urethan coated and so you could pour even red wine. Because of wood's low conduction, it keeps coolness longer and warmness longer. Just water would be good with cedar scent! The scent will be stronger, If you pour hot water or hot tea or in heat it up in microwave. The bowl is for salad, fruit, pasta and also it would be good as a wine cooler.
